Re: Celebrate Marvel’s 70th Anniversary On August 11th, 200
I'm pretty excited. We only have DragonCon here in Atlanta this year (though the convention looks better than ever this year). The last few times people tried to hold other cons here, attendance was not very good. I wasn't able to get out of town this year and missed HeroesCon for the first time in a long time. Definitely going through convention withdrawal this year, and seeing Jenkins, Way, and Bagley just down the street from me is going to be really cool!

Re: Celebrate Marvel’s 70th Anniversary On August 11th, 200
I was able to attend the event in PDX last night. Great session at Barnes & Noble; a big crowd and a full hour of Q&A with Brian, Jeff and Rick answering a lot of good questions from the crowd.
It was considerably different from a Q&A at a con because a lot of the attendees were kids. The cool thing is that some of the kids actually asked questions about the writing process, and the answers back were great.
Definitely feel fortunate that Portland is home to some of the best creators in the industry, and that they took the time out to spend time with the community.

Hey everyone:
Long-time lurker, first-time poster in the forums.
I was able to attend the event in Portland last night. Barnes and Noble was packed with folks; standing room only in their upstairs events area. There was a good mix of adult fans and kids, and the Q&A lasted a full hour.
The Q&A was considerably different than those at most cons; a lot fewer questions regarding detail from current or upcoming story arcs and a larger focus on the creative process. Even the kids asked some decent questions regarding writing comics. Brian, Rick, and Jeff gave some great answers.
I've always felt fortunate to live in Portland for a number of reasons. Having some of the best creators in the industry as part of the community is a major perk, but those creators being willing to share their time with fans is priceless.
Many thanks to Brian, Jeff and Rick for taking the time and making the effort; it was a great time.
